Gatekeeper's Cabin Museum 130 W. After the original cabin was destroyed by fire in 1978, the current Gatekeeper's cabin museum was hand carved from Lodgepole Pines on the same foundation. The museum features the history of Lake Tahoe, natural history displays and an exquisite basket collection. Open from mid-May to mid-October.

In its days of glory, the resort included two large hotels, a casino, and numerous annexes and out-buildings. Nowadays, the site is home to Valhalla community events center and its annual Valhalla Festival of Arts and Music. Exhibits on the Baldwin family-the former proprietors of the Tallac Hotel, and on the Washoe Indian Tribe can be seen at the Tallac (Baldwin) Museum located also within the site.
